The prestigious journalist Pedro Ballesteros MW includes it in the selection of the best wines of Ribera del Duero, which have obtained more than 95 points. In this report he places Dominio de Calogía as a clear example of a wine whose style “is based on concentration, very ripe fruit, intense oak ageing (less and less evident) and density, with great balance”, considering it among the greatest of the Ribera Del Duero.
He describes it as follows:
Amazingly ripe fruit, at that magical point when black and blue berries are not yet plums.
Intensely oaked, because it is made for the long run. It is big but round, quite impressive on the attack, but with a gentle and suave touch. Its parsimonious finish demands a lot of attention in order to grasp its complexity. A great Roa wine made by José Manuel Pérez Ovejas, a founder of the greatest Ribera style when he was at Pérez Pascuas. This wine should be kept in bottle for several years.
